Help Placing Orders for Plastic On-Line or by Fax

This information is to help provide an easy step-by-step explanation of how easy it is to order material on-line, and how to enter cutting information to get the finished pieces you need. If you are filling out the order sheet for a fax order, you will obtain the necessary prices from our web site, and then enter the ITEM CODE and Description on the order form.

Getting a Price Quote:

Our checkout procedure allows you to obtain an Order Total before submitting any Credit Card information. Your shopping cart is automatically saved if you return to shopping at any time, and you may modify or cancel the order prior to a final confirmation.

Overall Policy on Sheet Sales:
All sheet stock is sold as Full Sheets or in "increments" from a 48" x 96" sheet.
These increments are:
24 x 48
24 x 96
36 x 48
48 x 48
48 x 72

The best material price is on 48" x 96" sheet or larger.

Larger sheets are available and are sold in Full Sheets only.

Cutting Information and Procedure:

First, add a CUTTING order item to your on-line or fax order. The Minimum is $15 for straight cuts. Curves and other shapes (there is a downloadable PDF showing examples) have their own charges based on the time required to cut the shape.

For each INCREMENT that you purchase, you can enter the CUTTING information that tells us what pieces will be cut from the increment. There is an information line on each order page.

Saw Kerf (the width of the saw blade) is 1/4" (.250") - so for each cut, an additional .250" of material is cut. That means we cannot get 3 pieces that are 8 inches wide from a 24 inch wide piece. 2 pieces would be 8 inches wide, and the last piece would be 7.50 inches wide due to the saw blade cutting through the sheet. Please keep this in mind when calculating your yield from each INCREMENT you purchase.

For example:

Order 1 sht of Plexiglas - .118 x 24 x 96
Order 1 Cutting item of $15 - enter that you want 3 pc 7" x 90"

or a larger order might be:
Order 1 sht of Plexiglas - .118 x 48 x 96
Order 1 Cutting item of $15 - enter that you want 30 pc 10" x 10" of .118 material
Order 1 sht of Plexiglas - .220 x 48 x 72
Order 1 Cutting item of $15 - enter that you want 1 pc 44.125" x 62.375" of .220 material
(we appreciate decimal measurement, but fractions are OK)

At checkout, during the SHIPPING section, you will pick your region to see the total order cost including shipping to your region.

You will also have a choice to have your REMNANTS from cutting shipped with your order. BY DEFAULT, WE DO NOT SHIP REMNANTS and they are put into a Recycle Bin.

Drilling Holes

We can drill holes up to 4" diameter quickly (larger on our CNC machines). Either a drawing needs to be faxed or clear locations need to be furnished. Example: Drill a 1/4" diam hole in each corner 1 inch down, 1 inch over. In most cases, it's most helpful if a fax or email is sent along separately from your order - please let us know that it's coming!

Cutting Circles, Geometric Shapes, Holes and Cutouts

Check out the PDF of typical shapes. Each shape has a Letter Code associated with it. From the CUTTING drop down list of charges, you can pick the matching Code for the cutting fee of that shape and size of increment cut from.

EDGE TREATMENT - Milled Edge, Polished Edge, Beveled Edge, Roundover Edge
Pricing is PER FOOT - rounded to the nearest foot.

Standard Edge is the SAWCUT edge - it is smooth and chip free. The edge may be a little bit sharp - we do not advise running your fingers along the edge to see - you may get a slight cut. You can make a quick pass along the edges with 100 grit sandpaper to dull the edge.

Milled Edge - also known as a "frosted" edge, is made by running the edges through a router and cleaning up all saw cut marks. It make a nice modern finished edge. If you are planning on bonding/gluing the edge, we highly recommend this edge for a bubble-free bond. The edge may be a little bit sharp - we do not advise running your fingers along the edge to see - you may get a slight cut. You can make a quick pass along the edges with 100 grit sandpaper to dull the edge.

Beveled Edge - is a combination Milled Edge and Bevel. After Milling, we make a second pass to bevel the TOP edge in either a 1/4, or 1/2 bevel. This is a great edge for table top or counter top.

Roundover Edge - is a combination Milled Edge and Roundover. After Milling, we make a second pass to round the TOP edge in either a 1/4, or 1/2 rounding. This is a great edge for table top or counter top.

Polished Edge - as a final step, we can polish the edges with a Hydrogen-Oxygen flame that puts a shine on the edge. This is always in ADDITION to a MILLED, BEVEL, or ROUNDOVER edge treatment. We do not polish saw cut edges. Plexiglas with polished edges cannot be silk-screened or they will craze due to the solvents in the screen ink.
